adminisMessage from Mr Yamashita, trative director of the Ishikawa Swimming Association, to France

Today we are sharing Mr Yamashita’s, administrative director of the Ishikawa Swimming Association, message addressed to France!

Open Water Swimming athletes compete not in indoor pools, but in outdoor bodies of water, like rivers, sea, lakes, etc. In the Olympics, OWS is the 10km marathon swimming race.

Having gathered several medals in the latest World Aquatics Championships, France is an OWS superpower, and has some chances to take medals home in the next Olympics!

In order to get used to the outside heat, the training camp has to take place in an outside pool.

Unfortunately, Kanazawa City does not have an outside pool that can satisfy the OWS team’s needs. That is why we teamed up with our neighbor Hakusan City through a sports-oriented wide-range cooperation so that the French OWS can train in Hakusan City’s Matto Sports Park outside pool. If you live nearby and the training sessions are made public, please come and watch!

We also would like to warmly thank the Ishikawa Swimming Association for all their help. We look forward to working with you in the future as well!
