Report on the 2019 training camp - Weightlifting

From July 2nd to 17th, the French weightlifting team held a training camp in Kanazawa’s General Gymnasium’s 3rd gymnasium! The purpose of this training camp was for the athletes to get used to the Japanese summer. The preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games are underway!

As you might imagine, to be able to lift such heavy weights, the athletes have bulk. We have been asked “Who are those people??” numerous times by hotel clients or passerbys… ^_^’’

As for the training camp itself, the athletes were hit hard by jetlag and the hot and humid Japanese summer, making it hard for them to turn on their “on switch”. But during the second half of the camp, they got their condition back, and especially on joint training days with Kanazawa Gakuin University showed us some powerful moves! In France, there is no sports club in university, so for athletes practicing weightlifting, which is an individual sport, having people around to urge you on was very motivating and a nice change. The athletes told us they could put more effort in training thanks to that! (They also told us that the joint warm up exercise was quite a funny thing to do haha)

After watching a sumo tournament (do you get the boss-vibes radiating from this back shot??) the athletes took a walk in Higashi-yama in traditional clothes and had a blast!

Looking forward to seeing you all next year!!
